Chelsea Boss Maresca Dismisses Manchester City Speculation as '100%' Rumour
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has labelled recent talk connecting him with a return to Manchester City as nothing but hearsay.
The Italian manager, who previously worked as Pep Guardiola's assistant in Manchester, addressed the persistent speculation surrounding his future.
Maresca, named Chelsea manager in the summer of 2024, has a contract running until 2029, with a potential extension option.
"It doesn't bother me at all because I know that is 100% speculation," Maresca said. "And at this moment, there is no time for these kind of things."
He went on to explain, Primarily, because I have a contract here until 2029. And my attention, I said many times, is solely on this club and I'm very proud to be here. But again, it's rumour. One week ago I was connected to a role in Italy with Juventus. So I ignore it because I know that is without foundation."
Chelsea, currently sitting fourth in the Premier League, are set to face Newcastle United this Saturday in a lunchtime kick-off.
Tensions Following Recent Comments
Maresca's latest statement come in the wake of he described a recent 48-hour period as his "worst" since arriving at Chelsea.
Those original remarks had fueled considerable speculation of a possible disagreement between the manager and the club's key decision-makers.
When asked if he had discussed matters with the club's sporting directors, Maresca responded, "We are in the same building, so we talk about various topics. But about the Everton media session, no."
The Italian however affirmed he would definitely stay at the club for the coming campaign and urged the fans to keep backing the team".
In brighter news, Maresca indicated that sidelined attackers Liam Delap and Estevao Willian could be back sooner than expected, potentially available for a fixture against Aston Villa later this month.

The perceived disconnect between Maresca and the club's hierarchy persists as an open wound that still cause concern.
While there has been no further escalation of the situation in the open, there has also been no apology offered, leaving the matter unresolved.
